Power Factor Correction Calculator

This online calculator allows you to enter parameters of a circuit with an inductive load in an attempt to achieve a higher power factor. This calculator does so by outputting a capacitor value that effectively cancels out the reactive power of the load. This passive correction approach helps the circuit draw less current, and thereby deliver more useful real power to the load.

Conclusion

Power factor correction is an important concept in understanding how inductive loads interact with an electrical system, and these calculators are meant to make that concept easier to explore. By experimenting with different inputs, you can see how phase angle, current, and capacitor size relate to each other, and how capacitors can help align voltage and current for a cleaner, more efficient circuit.

While these tools are a helpful way to visualize and learn, they are provided strictly for educational use. Always verify any results before applying them in real-world situations, and consult a qualified professional for any critical or safety-sensitive electrical work.
